Last Monday was the International Day of Immunology – an event that was part of the Immunization Week in Europe. The origin of this day was in 2005, when the International Union of Immunology Societies set this date with the aim of promoting, raising awareness and creating awareness in the population about research in this field of biomedical sciences, as well as raising awareness about the functioning of the immune system in preventing diseases.
Immunology is dedicated to the study of the immune system, in the defense of the organism against various internal and external agents. When the immune system does not function properly, it generates certain types of alterations, such as autoimmune diseases, immunodeficiencies and hypersensitivities.
This year, the central theme for celebrating International Immunology Day is «Immunity Through the Ages: Navigating the Science of Aging and Immunology.»
Today we want to reinforce the idea that the more we understand the immune system, the more possibilities we have to optimize the health system and the well-being of people.
Now, everyone has the opportunity to strengthen and maintain their immune system through the following daily actions:
- Do physical activity regularly.
Eat properly.
- Keep your immunization schedule up to date.
- Avoid situations of sustained stress.
- Take care of your sleep schedule (7 to 8 hours daily).
- Avoid consumption of alcoholic beverages and tobacco.
At Microbac we have a series of equipment dedicated to immunological diagnosis. You can find out more about them on our website.
